Every August, when I was a child, we would make the pilgrimage into the city for our annual school shopping trip to the mall. This yearly ritual, observed by many families in our rural community, always included a trip to the Orange Julius stand – or as my brother pronounced it – the Orange Juciest. I didn’t know at the time what made those creamy, frosty, tangy drinks so yummy and I didn’t care. As an adult, I do care what they are made of as well as how they taste so I created my own healthy version of the orange smoothie which has the added bonus of being only 3 Weight Watchers points per serving.
4 oranges peeled (seeds removed if not using a heavy duty blender like a Vitamix)
8 oz low-fat vanilla yogurt
1 cup ice
1 Tbl sp. orange blossom honey
1 tsp vanilla
Blend until creamy. This makes 4 servings at 3 Weight Watchers points each.
